MINERAL  CLASS         Rhodonite

 

 When used as a gemstone, Rhodonite is almost always opaque.

 

 But a rare form of Transparent,  deep pink to red Rhodonites faceted into a gemstones  are very rarely seen and highly valued by mineral collectors.  This form of Rhodonites are rarely cut, but when they are, they command very high prices.

 

Rhodonite is polished into beads and cabochones, and is used in necklaces, bracelets and pendants.  It is occationally carved into ornamental objects and small statues.

 

The Russian deposits of Rhodonite Gemstones in Sverdlovsk are among the most famous in the world.  Other Rhodonite deposits are found in Australia,  Madagascar, Sweden, Brazil, Japan and Peru.Rhodonite also comes from the U.S.
