Citrine is a member of the Quartz mineral family, and is a beautiful gemstone and quite rare in its natural form. Citrine has a beautiful golden yellow color which can vary from light to pale yellow. The color of Citrine is probably caused by traces of iron. Almost all Citrine on the market are heat treated.
Acctually, very little amount of quartz which is mined is citrine, vast majority of citrine which is marketed are produced by heat treating Amethyst and smoky quartz.
Deposits of natural citrine are found mostly in Madagascar, Brazil, USA, Burma and Namibia.
